The Mavic 2 Air (Air) is the new kid on the block. How does it compare to the Mavic 2 Pro (Pro)? Let SkyStock give you a very quick rundown.
Photos: The Pro packs a 1″ sensor and produces 20mp photos. In comparison, the sensor in the Air is half the size at 1/2″ and produces 12mp photos. Don’t get caught up in the marketing spin where the Air is advertised as producing 48mp photos. Check out our previous blog post on this. Winner Pro
Videos: While the sensor size in the Pro will give it an advantage with video as well, the Air manages to produce a slightly improved bit rate, and offer slighter greater frame rates. Hard to split the two here so it is a Draw.
Size: The Air is about a third of the size and weight of the Pro so if size is important to you then the Air is what you are looking for. Winner Air.
Obstacle Sensors: Both machines contain obstacle sensors to help you avoid crashing. The Pro does have a couple more sensors (side and above) which if it helps you avoid a crash can save you hundreds in repairs. Winner Pro.
Price: The Air comes in roughly 40% cheaper than the Pro which is a significant price saving. Winner Air.
Other: Range, Speed, Battery Life and some of the other specifications are very similar between both models. Draw
Decision: Our winner today is the Mavic 2 Air as it is a very capable machine in a small size at a great price. The Mavic 2 Pro while more expensive will produce better quality images with some additional safety features, so still, a good machine to keep in mind for those with a higher budget.
